Job Description

Employee serves as a Project Manager for a design and construction team. Assignments include performing studies and developing plans for projects, including extensions and the repair alteration of existing buildings and facilities, such as office buildings, warehouses, laboratories, computer facilities, courthouses and historic buildings. Assignments also include procurement of professional services contractors, and other specialist type contractors, as required to support the design and construction activities.

Assignments are made in the form of a designated project for which the scope, target completion date, and available funds have been defined. The project manager plans for and carries out projects independently with the authority to act on own initiative on matters affecting the project. The project manager keeps the Section Chief informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or issues with an overall standpoint in terms of effectiveness in meeting project requirements.

Knowledge and Experience: At least 3 years of specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the full range of Project Management for building design and construction.

Knowledge of the federal construction industry

Knowledge of construction estimating software, strategies and techniques

Strong computer skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong problem solving skills

Analytical and critical thinking skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy

Effective management, budget, estimating, and planning skills

Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals

Ability to create, manipulate, and read blueprints and drawings

Ability to gather data, compile information, and make reports

Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
